Troubleshooting & Debug: When Sink It Isn't Active

If no Sink It features are appearing on Reddit or the extension seems inactive after an update, follow these simple diagnostic steps in order:

1

Check Safari Permissions

Open iOS Settings → Safari → Extensions → Sink It. Ensure Sink It is toggled ON and permissions for reddit.com (and all websites) are set to Allow.

On macOS: Safari → Settings → Websites → Extensions → Sink It → Allow.

2

Force Close Safari

Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open the iOS App Switcher, swipe Safari completely off the top of the screen to terminate its process, then reopen Safari. On Mac, press Cmd + Q to quit and restart Safari.

3

Reset Site Data for Reddit

If Reddit displays a blank white screen or infinite reload loop: Go to iOS Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data, search for reddit.com, and tap Delete. Then refresh Reddit in Safari.

4

Reset Off-Screen Buttons

If you accidentally dragged the Sink It navigation buttons off-screen or if Reddit layout changes broke positioning, open the Sink It app → Reset Saved Data → Reset All Button Positions.

Critical Note on Home Screen Shortcuts: "Add to Home Screen" web shortcuts run inside iOS WebClip standalone mode where Apple completely disables all Safari web extensions. Sink It only functions when you open Reddit inside the standard Safari browser app.

Reddit's 4 Web Designs

Visual Guide

Over the years, Reddit has launched multiple completely distinct web codebases. Sink It detects which version of Reddit you are browsing and dynamically injects the appropriate styles, scripts, and navigation tools.
